More Muslim Noodles, in Chengdu

January 16, 2010  |  Chengdu, China, Food, Sichuan, Travel, photos  |  2 Comments

We found a Muslim restaurant in Chengdu, the same as the one we go to in Luzhou. They must be a chain restaurant.

The dishes at the Muslim restaurant in Chengdu, were even better than the ones in Luzhou! We didn’t think that was possible.

Beef and Mushroom Noodles

Beef Noodles with Vegetables and Chilli sauce. Sichuan is known for it’s hot food, and this dish was pretty hot.

Muslim Noodles with Roasted Beef and Vegetables

January 9, 2010  |  China, Food, Luzhou  |  No Comments

There is a little Muslim restaurant in Luzhou that we visit every now and then. They serve the most delicious lamb and beef dishes. There are only six little tables inside and the place is always full.

Beef and Mushroom Noodles

This is my favourite dish. All the noodles are handmade there, and they are absolutely delicious. The noodles in this dish look like spaghetti noodles, but they are a little fatter. It comes with roasted chunks of beef and potatoes, as well as big capsicum pieces.

I took the photo when it was still steaming hot, hence the hazy look.

Country Style Roast Vegetables

July 20, 2009  |  Australia, Cooking, Food  |  No Comments

we cooked up some beautiful country style roast vegetable w/ beef spare ribs

the other night. & I’ve been meaning to blog about it

but we have been busy planning our trip back to China.

which deserves it’s own post (which I’ll do in the next few days)

so back to the cooking!

Country Style Roast Vegetables

we went to woolworths & purchased a bunch of tasty veggies to bake:

beetroot

sweed

white & golden sweet potato

pumpkin

red onion

purple garlic

rosemarry

we also went to our local butcher for the beef spare ribs! so yum.

the key with a country style roast is to leave the skin on everything

and to just chop it up roughly

you’d be amazed at how yummy red onion is when it’s baked w/ the skin on

just add all the vegetables to a nice cast iron baking pan

add oil & salt.

maybe some dried herbs.

& bake @ 150c for 1.5 hours
