Bake your own bread

On Sunday night we baked our own bread.

Our own homemade bread

It was so delicious when fresh out of the oven, with some butter and raspberry jam. It tasted like a big piping hot scone.

It’s so simple. We didn’t follow a set recipe from a book, we just made it up as we went along.

Basic Recipe:

3 cups plain flour

Enough water to get the right consistency

2 level teaspoons of dry yeast (added to warm water, and let to grow)

1 teaspoon of salt to taste.

Mixed in our Cuisinart DLC-2011BCN Prep 11 Plus Food Processor (totally worth the investment, it’s a wonderful machine).

Then, roll the dough around with your hands, on a flat surface covered with flour. Make into a log shape and put into a loaf tin.
Cover with cling-wrap and let it sit in a warm place to prove (this lets the yeast work on the flour and make it rise).

Bake at 150c for 40 minutes

Tip: Add some ice cubes or some water to a tray or baking tin, and put it in with the bread. This will increase the humidity of your oven and improve your bread baking success.
