Hong Kong to Guangzhou. 14 August 2009.

Making our way back to China:

Our next destination was Chongqing. Getting there was a big trip. First though, we had to get from Hong Kong to Guangzhou.

1. From our friend’s place in HK, we caught a taxi to the MTR station.

2. From the station, we took the MTR (underground train) to Hung Hom Station (Kowloon). From Hung Hom, you can catch train to a few different locations in mainland China.

3. We then switched trains, & jumped on one heading to Guangzhou (which was about a 2 hour trip).

4. The Guangzhou train station is one of the busiest & biggest train stations in China. At any given time there are thousands of people buying tickets & waiting for trains to arrive. There are people sitting and standing everywhere. If you ever head to Guangzhou or Shenzhen, beware of pick-pocketing. Joel bought our tickets, while I watched our many bags like a hawk.

5. From Guangzhou we got on the train to Chongqing (there are many different trains heading to the same places, but different lengths of time, & different amounts of money, depending on what you get). We caught the K202 which was a 22 hour trip.
