First week of teaching

September 5, 2009  |  China, Luxian, Luzhou, Teaching

So our first week of teaching is over, it’s been a pretty fun week meeting all of the kids and doing our introduction classes on Australia.

All of the kids love Kangaroos & Koalas and the beaches of Australia. Most of them know about Surfing, and I’m looking forward to showing them a short DVD on surfing later in the year.

I’ve been singing a few songs in class at the request of the students, I started with Waltzing Matilda which took too much explaining at the end. So I’ve started doing “Stand by Me” which was one of my favourite songs on Lips for Xbox 360.

We are still trying to find an apartment in Luzhou city, as rural China suffers from regular blackouts & loss of water. Plus it’s much more fun in the city.
